BATHROOM REMODELING IN HAWTHORN WOODS, IL
We were given complete freedom on this Hawthorn Woods bathroom remodeling project, so we hit the ground running! The existing space was already pretty functional, including a large shower, double vanity, large tub and private water closet. The space really just needed to be updated to be more current and flow with the rest of their home.
We enhanced the shower with double shower heads and plenty of product storage. We also removed the large, bulky tub deck and replaced it with a smaller stand alone bath tub, which becomes a focal point when you walk through the main bathroom door. The vanity was reworked to be a wow factor while still maximizing function and storage. The overall space is now fresh and crisp with plenty of pop!

HAWTHORN WOODS BATHROOM REMODEL OBJECTIVES
USABILITY OF THE BATHROOM
While the client had minimal requests for their new bathroom, they did want the shower to be more usable. We added usability by creating a walk in entry, double shower heads with separate handheld, and niches complete with a beautiful marble mosaic. We also gained a few inches by removing the current bulky tub and replacing it with a more minimalist freestanding soaker tub.
CREATE A FUNCTIONAL BATHROOM
The existing vanity wasn’t terribly small, but lacked function. By reworking the vanity to include more drawer storage, we were able to give both husband and wife their own functional space, while also delivering a wow factor.
CREATE A STYLISH BATHROOM
Our client wanted the bathroom to be a better reflection of their personal style and the rest of their updated home. We achieved this by adding a variety of contrasting materials in neutral black and white tones, complimented by fun decorative lighting, mirrors, and a custom grid shower enclosure.
BEFORE THE BATHROOM REMODEL IN HAWTHORN WOODS
HAWTHORN WOODS BATHROOM DESIGN CONCEPT
We really wanted to deliver the wow factor our client was looking for, so we made sure not to skip out on any details. With the vanity and tub being the first areas you see when you walk in, we knew those needed some extra attention.
The vanity was redesigned in all drawers stained in Carbon, for a clean, contemporary pop. We topped those with white quartz countertops with an oversized backsplash, which was not only functional, but allowed for some added interest and a perfect place to anchor our small ledge. The mirrors and tall sconces accentuated the ceiling height of the space, drawing the eye up. The same sconces were used over the tub for a similar purpose, and also added additional task lighting for evening tub soaks.
We chose several different floors for the space to divide things up, while still maintaining cohesion. The main floor features a natural wood look porcelain tile. Marble look porcelain serves as a rug for the tub to sit on, and a black penny round mosaic at the shower floor adds striking contrast and interest. The overall shower is black and white, but is broken up by three custom niches backed with a beautiful floral mosaic for added dimension. Whoever said black and white is boring surely hasn’t seen this bathroom!
