BATHROOM REMODELING IN MOUNT PROSPECT, IL

For this bathroom remodeling project in Mount Prospect, our clients wanted it to be exciting, but also function for their everyday use. They were tight on space in the shower, and did not use the leaky tub that was there.

They wanted to improve flow at the entrance to the master bathroom so we replaced the swing door with a pocket door. Building a pony wall in the shower gave added privacy to the toilet area, and allowed for space for grab bar installation. The floating shelf above the vanity is repeated with a floating bench in the shower, which was built to accommodate a drain that could not be moved.

Making the most of the shower functionality, the client opted for a tiered floor-to-ceiling niche, and the custom Amish cabinetry and shiplap brings the farmhouse feel they were looking for.

The client felt that not only did the bathroom not suit their needs when it came to layout and storage, but also, they hated that their only bathroom for guests was so dull and outdated. There were no windows in the space so brightening it up was key, as well as improving the layout from a storage perspective and improving utility by removing the unused tub and swing door off the master.

Our client wanted a unique space that was going to make an impact on visiting guests, but also would improve their day to day use of the space. Keeping their desired farmhouse design aesthetic, we chose a beautiful hickory for the vanity and added dimension to the vanity area by applying shiplap, a floating shelf, and a boutique tile backsplash. This gave the eye a clear focal point to land on and took away the focus that there are no windows in the space.

Because the bathroom was part of a town home association and was on a slab, the client did not want to move the drain in the shower. In order to incorporate their need for a bench in the shower, we got creative and opted for a floating bench over the drain.

The floor to ceiling niche was a decision that was made upon demolition and adds unexpected deatil in the shower, as well as provides very impactful storage to the small footprint. Switching the swing door to a pocket door also improved flow, and much needed drawers at the vanity greatly increased the utility of the bathroom for the homeowners.
