KITCHEN REMODELING IN MOUNT PROSPECT, IL
For this kitchen remodeling project in Mount Prospect, we were faced with a kitchen that was in need of some updating to better suit the needs of a young, modern family. This existing Mount Prospect kitchen was a tiny “U” shape that would never work for a house who liked to cook.
We immediately knew we needed to open up the wall that divided the kitchen and dining room. This allowed for more cabinets and countertops, as well as a large island complete with microwave, beverage refrigerator and seating for four.
Not only did opening the wall make for better function and flow, but it also gave the newly remodeled kitchen an extra window adding much needed daylight. Hardwood floors throughout the space, updated lighting and a fresh coat of paint did wonders for this fresh transformation.

MOUNT PROSPECT KITCHEN REMODEL OBJECTIVES
OPEN CONCEPT KITCHEN
Removed wall between kitchen and dining room, and the wall at the hallway. This created an open concept that made the home feel much more spacious.
MAXIMIZE KITCHEN STORAGE
Plenty of cabinetry and countertops that maximized storage and function
KITCHEN WITH VISUAL APPEAL
A fresh style to completely transform this 1970’s Mount Prospect home
BEFORE THE KITCHEN REMODEL IN MOUNT PROSPECT
The existing kitchen was a dated U shape, hardly functional for more than one person at a time. Not only was it dated, but it also lacked style and function. Complete with oak cabinets, wallpaper and carpet floors, this kitchen was in some major need of TLC.
KITCHEN REMODELING DESIGN CONCEPT
The kitchen design was open and airy. Our client had a pretty good vision of her dream Mount Prospect kitchen, which included dark floors and dark cabinets; she was very insistent that she didn’t want an all white kitchen!
We actually started with dark cocoa cabinets, but quickly compromised to a stain that was less harsh, while still being rich and beautiful. The Bayou stain was the perfect blend! We contrasted that with a soft white island paired with gray and white quartz countertops.
A picket white backsplash, white apron sink, and lighting with just enough sparkle pulled this kitchen together. The space now feels fresh, open, bright and is the perfect gathering place for this young family.
DURING THE KITCHEN REMODEL IN MOUNT PROSPECT
By opening up the hallway and walls between the kitchen and dining room, we immediately felt the difference. The space was now expansive, open and much brighter! It was completely open to the breakfast area and family room, both which included large windows and doors, allowing extra light to flow through to the new kitchen space.
We completely opened up the drywall for a complete overhaul for new can lights. We also added new outlets throughout for better function and also to accommodate our new appliances.
With roughs completed, it’s now time to start closing up drywall and installing some of the fun stuff. First up, hardwood floors!
