KITCHEN REMODELING IN INVERNESS, IL
This Inverness kitchen was in desperate need of rework, and screamed potential! While the footprint was a good size, the layout was closed off and cramped, lacking both length and width, and just not very conducive for this family.
They had a fair amount of cabinet space and a separate walk in pantry, but the kitchen still felt small and closed off. By removing the built in pantry, we were able to lengthen the kitchen and get this family all the bells and whistles they could desire.

INVERNESS KITCHEN REMODEL OBJECTIVES
CREATE A KITCHEN THAT FUNCTIONS
By eliminating a built in pantry, we were able to add length, storage and countertop space to this kitchen. The new layout allowed for an individual range top, double ovens, built in refrigerator, microwave drawer and beverage refrigerator.
CREATE A GATHERING SPACE AT THE ISLAND
A large island not only created an abundance of countertop space, but also served as a place for seating, serving, storage and overall better flow and function. It also housed a microwave and beverage refrigerator, perfect for entertaining!
UPDATE THE KITCHEN STYLING
We were going for a more modern, Scandinavian vibe for this space. We achieved this by pairing both warm and cool tones with modern elements and clean lines
BETTER USE OF KITCHEN
We had a lot of area to work with, it just wasn’t being used the way it should. We replaced the breakfast nook with a large island that included seating for five. We also added a casual bench seat adjacent to a large bay window that overlooked a serene backyard, a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or good book!
BEFORE THE INVERNESS KITCHEN REMODEL
INVERNESS KITCHEN DESIGN CONCEPT
All our inspiration photos had this Scandinavian vibe to them, so we made that our starting point. We wanted to really maximize the potential of this beautiful kitchen. We didn’t miss a single opportunity!
The cooktop wall features a patterned cement tile across the entire wall. It’s complete with large drawers for pot and pan storage, pull outs for spices, and a beautiful drop in range top with stainless steel hood. The back wall features a stand out concrete apron sink, panel front dishwasher, floating wood shelves, and soft gold wall sconces.
Front and center is the lengthy island complete with a microwave drawer, beverage refrigerator, large storage drawers, waterfall edges, an illuminated shiplap back panel and seating for five!
Lastly, we couldn’t remove a pantry and not replace that storage with something even better. That was the concept for the full height pantry wall. While these are reduced in depth for proper clearances, these pantries hold everything and then some! We love the contrast of light and dark elements paired with the warmth of the natural white oak floors and gold accents.
