Our clients purchased their Barrington home knowing the kitchen was needing a major renovation. The existing kitchen was spacious and open but the layout did not maximize the kitchens footprint.
For the new kitchen design we opted to elongate the space. In order for the kitchen to flow right we created bench seating under the window to help solidify the larger design concept.
The results are a much larger, free flowing kitchen full of unique focal points. The new design is a night and day difference from the original kitchen. Perfect for cooking family meals and entertaining alike.
KITCHEN DESIGN OBJECTIVES
EXPAND THE FLOOR PLAN
We wanted to highlight the open floor plan by elongating the footprint of the kitchen. By capturing the unused space the kitchen is now large, bright and airy.
IMPROVE THE FUNCTION
By expanding the footprint of the kitchen, we improved the storage and function of the kitchen. The large island is perfect for the kids to do homework and great for entertaining.
IMPROVE THE STYLE
The combination of the bright white cabinetry, royal blue island and all of the Walnut details brings this Barrington home to the modern day.
BEFORE THE KITCHEN REMODEL
The existing kitchen featured basic Maple cabinetry and granite counters. The existing hardwood floor was in good shape and just needed to be refinished. The open concept was a bonus, the space just needed an overhaul.
KITCHEN DESIGN CONCEPT
In the 3D kitchen drawings you can see exactly how we turned this small basic kitchen into a luxury kitchen that is worthy of this Barrington home. The key to pulling this design together was the window seat as it bridged both sides of the kitchen together into one cohesive space.
DURING THE KITCHEN REMODEL
The kitchen construction went off without a hitch. The space was large and easy to work in. Here you can see the electricians hard at work prepping the can lights. The custom wood hood trimmed in Walnut just after the installation. And the cabinet installers touching up after the completed cabinet installation.
